In the steps below, we’ll walk you through the entire migration process.
For further details and a visual explanation of the steps below, you can review this video from WhatsApp on the migration process.
Step 1: Review the Checklist
Make sure you've checked everything on the checklist!
Step 2: Log in to the Saysimple Platform
Log in to the Saysimple Platform and click on ‘Settings’ in the left sidebar. In the Settings menu, click on ‘Manage Channels’. In the top right corner, you'll see a blue button labeled ‘Connect with WhatsApp’.
Step 3: Log in to Facebook
A new window will pop up. If you're already logged in, click the blue ‘Continue as …’ button. If you're not logged in yet, log in and follow the instructions. After clicking continue, the Embedded Signup flow will begin. Once you complete the Signup flow, you can start using the WhatsApp Business API.
Step 4: Share Permissions with Saysimple
A new window will appear asking you to share permissions with Saysimple. These permissions are needed to connect your business to the WhatsApp Business API. It’s good to know that you'll remain the owner of your Meta Business Manager and (new) WhatsApp Business Accounts. Click the blue ‘Get Started’ button to continue.
Step 5: Fill in Your Business Information
A new window will open asking you to fill in your business information. If you select the Business portfolio from the drop-down list of which you have admin rights, the information will be pre-filled for you. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 6: Create a New WhatsApp Business Account
When you migrate to Saysimple, you need to connect your own payment method to your WhatsApp Business Account. As of now, Meta only allows this by creating a completely new WABA (WhatsApp Business Account).
As mentioned earlier, your number and related templates will automatically migrate to your new WABA. However, chat history will not migrate.
To continue, select ‘Create a WhatsApp Business Account’ from the first dropdown. The second dropdown will automatically show ‘Create a new WhatsApp Business profile’. Click ‘Next’ to proceed.
Step 7: Create a WhatsApp Business Profile
In this step, you can set up your new WhatsApp Business Account. Fill in the required fields and click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 8: Set up a Payment Method
Before adding your phone number, open a new browser window (ensure the window containing the embedded signup flow stays open) and go to business.facebook.com. Open the WhatsApp accounts overview. In the overview, you’ll find your newly created WABA.
Select your WABA and click on ‘Payment Settings’. A new window will open leading you to the ‘Billing & Payments’ section of your Meta Business Suite.
Click on ‘Payment Methods’ in the left sidebar and click the ‘Add Payment Method’ button below the drawing of the telescope. You can either use a new payment method or choose the one you may already be using with your Meta Ads Account. This is called the ‘Business Payment Method’. Once completed, a payment method will be shown.
You’re almost done setting up your payment method. To finish, go back to the page with the overview of all WABA accounts. Click on your newly created WABA and double-check if your payment method is visible. If not, click ‘Edit’ on the right side of the screen, then choose ‘Update Payment Method’. Select the payment method you added in ‘Billing & Payments’ and click ‘Close’. Click ‘Confirm’ to finalize the process.
Step 9: Add Your Phone Number for WhatsApp
Return to the window with the Embedded Signup flow. Click on ‘Add a New Number’ and enter your existing WhatsApp phone number. Choose your preferred verification method. Note that landline numbers cannot receive text messages, and you must turn off or pause any active IVR solutions before verifying via phone call.
Click ‘Next’. A warning message will appear, stating that the number is already active with another solution provider on the WhatsApp Business API. Proceed to continue.
A new window will appear where you can enter your 6-digit PIN code. Meta will send this code to you via your preferred verification channel. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 10: Finish the Process
In the last step of the Embedded Signup flow, you’ll see that the number is now connected to your Saysimple platform.
Note that a completely new channel is created in Saysimple, and any previously created channel settings are not automatically migrated at this time.
